Safety and Anti-Graffiti films for Historical Building Preservation in Seattle

We all learn from history to avoid making mistakes in the future. Historical architecture serves as a tangible link to our past. It represents the life and values of previous generations; it shows their skills and building techniques. Moreover, it immerses us in a unique atmosphere of grand times. It is crucial to preserve such monuments and help them last for future generations. This issue becomes more important in areas with a higher-than-average crime rate. That’s why our client decided to protect a historical monument, the Yesler Building, in Seattle. We are glad to have assisted them by applying our safety and anti-graffiti films to their windows.

The Yesler Building is located in King County, WA. This area is known for giving a start to a significant number of world-known businesses. However, it also struggles with criminality, particularly property crime. Vandals destroy historical monuments by using paint, permanent markers, and etching. Additionally, King County suffers from break-ins that have a negative impact on its safety. For this reason, the Yesler Building should be under enhanced care. It was constructed in 1909 as a Municipal Building and has undergone several changes ever since. King County bought it in 1991 “and in the late 1990s waterproofed and renovated the rotting foundation levels”, according to the data. Today, the building is a home for several King County offices, such as Public Health/Prevention, Office of Civil Rights, Department of Transportation (DOT)/Transit, to name but a few.

The films we used

We applied a 14-mil Armorcoat Clear film by Solar Gard on the building’s ground-level windows. We attached the film to window frames with silicone DowSil 995 for extra strength. Armorcoat Clear Safety provides security by preventing the pieces of broken glass from flying around. Moreover, it reduces annoying glare, saves money on expensive cooling systems in summer, and blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays.

Additionally, we used a 7-mil Graffitigard film by Solar Gard on all ground-level exterior windows. This anti-graffiti film protects glass surfaces from taggers. It can be easily cleaned up without the usage of any strong chemicals. In cases of bigger damage, such as scratching, we can effortlessly remove or replace the film.

Our team is happy to have helped preserve the Yesler Building by applying our safety and anti-graffiti films.
