Safety, Anti-Graffiti, and Privacy for King County Courthouse

While walking among them, we sense innovation and change. On the other hand, majestic historical buildings make us feel the power of old times and desire to connect with their greatness. These grand constructions are the link between the present and the past. Therefore, we need to preserve them by all means. We should think about both their safety and aesthetics. A good example of such an attitude is the story of King County Courthouse in Downtown Seattle. They wanted to ensure the protection of the building by applying safety, anti-graffiti, and privacy films on its windows.

King County Courthouse

King County Courthouse is the administrative center for the judicial branch of the government of King County. Additionally, it is a WA landmark that is located in Downtown Seattle. The building was constructed in 1916 because of the growing population of the county and the necessity for changes. It was an architectural example of its times. The evolution of the building mostly began with its expansion in 1929 and further changes in the 1960s. The goal of the latter remodeling (1967) was to “modernize” the structure of the Courthouse. The architectural firm of Paul Delaney and Associates gifted the building with 1960s aesthetics and made it more visible among modern skyscrapers. In addition to design-related solutions, builders paid attention to the Courthouse’s functionality by expanding its capacity.

As a result of all changes, in 1987, the King County Courthouse “was registered as a King County landmark.” Many citizens, as well as tourists, admire its charm. In this case, the King County Courthouse requires a unique attitude. It poses both governmental and aesthetic value. As a Courthouse, it should be safe from any break-ins. As a landmark, it should be protected from taggers and their negative influence on the building’s image. To ensure full protection, our team applied safety, anti-graffiti, and privacy films on the windows of the King County Courthouse.

The films we used

We installed a 14-mil Safety and Security Armorcoat Clear film and a 7-mil Solar Gard Graffitigard on the first and second floors. These are the ones that are the most exposed to criminals. Safety and security film strengthens the window and holds glass fragments together in case of damage. Anti-graffiti film also helps to protect windows from vandals. Their “drawing and scratching” can be easily removed from the film. Additionally, we applied Solar Gard byDesign Clear Frost film to the King County Sheriff’s Office which is located in the Courthouse. This film can guarantee privacy and protection from unwanted onlookers.
